Three council members running for Fremont Mayor

11 Jan

It’s official…three council members have declared that they may be seeking to run for Fremont Mayor in November, 2012. Council member Dominic Dutra declared at Tuesday’s city council meeting that he may be running to become Fremont’s Mayor in November along with his colleagues Anu Natarajan and Bill Harrison. Dutra pledged in December, 2010 to not run for city council or Mayor if he was appointed to city council.

Dutra’s decision further complicates Natarajan’s life as she was the one who brought Dominic Dutra back to political office. It remains to be seen if breaking his pledge will result in political ramifications. What do you think?

Just because the guy said he would not run, does not mean that he should not. If he feels that he can run the City better than others and the voters believe him, he should run. At the end of the day, if people vote him in a democratic process in Nov then the pledges do not matter.

He back-stabbed Natarajan and Harrison but that is how politics works. I think the guy loves his city and has always been visible at every local event and cares for the city. He should run and let the people decide.

John, do you want a “backstabber” as you call it to become Mayor?
