Fremont Bulletin’s Best of Fremont

5 May

The Fremont Bulletin recently listed its “Best of Fremont” which include some of the following:
Best Breakfast : Country Way – This won thanks to Cindy Mozzeti
Best Bakery: Vienna Bakery
Best Chinese restaurant: China Chili – Does anyone still go there?
Best Coffee: Starbucks – comeone people?!
Best French Restaurant: Papillon – shouldn’t that be by default? Isn’t that the only French Restaurant?
Best Hamburger: Five Guys Burger
Best Indian restaurant: Chaat Bhavan
Best Italian restaurant: Massimo’s (Thank God it’s not Olive Garden again!)
and drum rolls please!
Best Elected Official: Bill Harrison
That’s all I have time for…please read the rest online!

No one really knows how many people vote in this poll, but apparently enough people are voting to make everyone take this seriously.

Five Guys inst even the best burger within a 1block radius (IN-n-Out). Harrison winning the poll isn’t good news for Natarajan’s mayoral campaign, eh?

I’m sure Connoly’s is proud of eir win, while they are going out of business after 40 years.

I was confused by the “closing” signs, so I went into Connolly’s and asked. They’re NOT going out of business, they’re just closing the clearance center within the store.

Kevdo, you got that right! Natarajan is running scared. She’s lost a lot of supporters and now she clearly lost in this poll. This seriously makes me question the viability of her campaign.

Hasn’t this “Best of Fremont” always been a bit of a joke?

This years’ list is no different. More p.r. spewed forth by Media New Group based on (I speculate) nominations and “votes” by a handful of employees, business owners and a few of their closest friends (?) More pablum for the masses. . . .

Meanwhile, this same organization (BANG/MNG) are cutting back on the resources dedicated to “real” news coverage in our city while simultaneously hauling the one newspaper that’s putting some effort into increased coverage in our region, into court!

    What’s wrong with this story?

    We have no time to do journalism/news – – – but, plenty of time to crank out this years “Best of . . . .. . .. ” ?????????

. – and there is no money to pay a reporter to cover Fremont activities, but, LOADS of cash to pay a team of attorneys to squeeze the economic life out of a small locally-owned business.
