Bill Harrison announces run for Fremont Mayor

18 Jun

City councilmember Bill Harrison got some coverage on Fremont Bulletin on his announcement for Fremont Mayor. Besides what’s been said already, here are some new quotes:

Harrison said creating new jobs is key to the city’s economy and overall well-being. He added he’s been proud of the work he’s done on the city council over the last six years, and hopes to continue that effort as Fremont’s new mayor.

“My colleague and friend, the late mayor Bob Wasserman, always said a mayor needs a clear vision to lead our great city,” he said. “I believe my deep roots in Fremont, business experience and work on the city council have enabled me to address our community’s needs, helped me be a leader on important issues and understand what it will take to ignite another great chapter in Fremont’s rich history.”

He said he believes the fact that he is a native of Fremont is one of the factors that will get him elected, as he says he knows what the community wants and needs that includes further job creation, helping small businesses grow and keeping neighborhoods safe

“Growing up in Fremont, my parents Herb and Gerry Harrison always said if you want a better life for your family, you have to improve the community around you. They showed me by example what it meant to be a leader. They taught me the importance of giving back to the community and how to make Fremont a better place to live, work, shop, play and raise a family.”

Hello everyone! This is “El Comedo” – Fremont’s Facebook Comic – here again, with more rumors in the decision over who The CA Fat Cat Democrat Machine wants to be Fremont’s next Mayor. You have to admire arrogance. I just have one question. Is this not up to the voters?

Boss Tweed of the Tammany Hall, Tom Pendergrast of the Pendergrast Machine, and now The California Fat Cat Democrats using our very own Bill Harrison as their front man. To paraphrase what was once asked of Shoeless Joe Jackson, “Say it ain’t so, Bill”. Tell us you did not sell your soul for the ruthless sake of power.

If my sources are correct, Mayoral Candidate Anu Natarajan and All Women of Color in Fremont (arguably across the State as well) are being told, “YOU DON’T MATTER”! While it is certainly true that many women are in positions of leadership in the Alpha Male CA Fat Cat Democrat Party, the ones who get elected apparently do not handle their offices too well. Some are accused of shoplifting and having extra marital affairs. Others have drug/alcohol problems and are having extra marital affairs. How many more problems surrounding other elected, Democrat women are there that may have been covered up? My my!

Apparently, when they do have qualified female candidates and I am confident they are out there…well those Alpha Male Fat Cats can’t let that type of woman have a chance. She may shine and they will look bad. Apparently, the rumor has it that Anu is not one of them.

Will Anu stand up for all women? Is she principled? Will she say she is staying in the race, or will she wilt under the pressure? Okay, three out of four is not bad. Inquiring mind wants to know! Did the Machine promise and/or threaten her in order to get her to bow out? If the women in Fremont are not outraged, then perhaps The State Democrat Machine is right, “THEY REALLY DON’T MATTER”! I don’t think so. As an independent, I believe ALL people matter.

Anu, stay in and make this a real race for Mayor. Let the people here decide who they want. Win… or lose, do it with grace and class. Sacramento doesn’t own Fremont, at least not yet.

I am really pleased to see a good mayoral race here between Bill Harrison, Steve Cho, Anu Natarajan if she stays in, and…er, uh, wait a minute! I believe Linda Susoez, while often homeless, is a registered Democrat, so at least one female Democrat will stay on the ballot after all. Maybe I am wrong and the Democrats are supporting one female candidate.. Disregard this message. This is “El Comedo” – Fremont’s Facebook Comic – signing off.

    Amazing.

Not a single statement of accomplishment(s).

Bill’s real proud of the work he’s done, but, can’t (or fails to remember to) make a claim as to what specific contribution or goal that work has been responsible for delivering!!

    WOW!

Check this out . . . . . here’s an example of civic leadership willing to challenge a popular idea (like building a stadium), because – – – get this – — – – there might be MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO with that money – like taking care of schools.

WHo amongst your current City Council advocated for the students of Fremont when the A’s were knocking on our door looking for a handout of free land and support by our city’s alreadycash–strapped services? Not Bill Harrisson – nor Anu Natarajan. BOTH were huge fans of plopping an ill-conceived stadeeumm plan in your midst . . . . . dwindling budgets and tax revenues BE DAMNED!!!!!!

We dont want to issue a liquor license to a private business, but – HEY – it’s perfectly alright to get many 100’s of baseball fans all good an liquored up, and then dump THEM on our streets . . . . . a rather significant point that ALSO escaped the steely-eyed scrutiny of your current council members!

But, back home in Fremont we’re talking about what swell folks we’ve been and what a nice place this would be if and when you’d all elect me again.

    How nice. . .. .
